Training

ELAS International provides training in good practice in English Language assessment to universities, schools, assessment boards and educational publishers. Following detailed needs analyses, all ELAS International training programmes are designed specifically to meet client requirements. Programmes typically last from one to five days and cover as many of the following areas as is necessary:

  • examining methods of testing – what test is right for you and your students/organisation
  • learning about language assessment principles and practices – what makes a language test fit for purpose
  • testing the four language skills (Reading, Listening, Writing, Speaking) – which task types are best for testing each skill  
  • looking at sample materials
  • writing test questions – how to construct fit-for-purpose test questions
  • marking tests and giving feedback
